Donald Gene Thomas Sr., 74, of Paris, Tennessee, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at the Paris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Paris.He was born Dec. 12, 1942, in Hazel, Kentucky, to Charles Cooper Thomas and Hinda Hopkins Thomas.He was member of Temple Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a retired self-employed drywall contractor.Donald was an avid fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team. His life consisted of work, church and family.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Thomas, and a grandchild, William Thomas.Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Joyce Cooper Thomas, whom he married on May 26, 1962; two daughters, Shannon Parra and husband Jesse of Trenton, Tennessee, and Donna Kilpatrick and husband Allen of Brentwood, Tennessee; two sons, Donald Thomas Jr. and wife Ellen of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Andy Thomas and wife Mandy of Paris; one sister, Faye Cherry of Hazel; and his grandchildren, Eli Thomas, Mason Thomas, Taylor Thomas, Jacob Thomas, David Thomas, Robert Rayburn, Ryan Kilpatrick, Ereann Kilpatrick and Cameron Kilpatrick.The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, in LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home of Paris, with Gerald Scott and Craig Peevyhouse officiating.
